Perfect Fit for Niche

Lindly Haunani, Rainbow Lei, 2008, 22″ long

Lindly Haunani’s Rainbow Lei Necklace has been selected as a finalist for the 2009 Niche Awards. Lindly writes about her new work:

“This new series of work, that evolved last spring, is an instance of returning to revisit an idea that I have worked with several times. I have always been fascinated with interlocking bead shapes, particularly those that when strung together are evocative of Hawaiian flower leis. By keeping each individual bead very simple while graphically strong, I am attempting to shift the viewer’s focus to the overall flow of the piece.”

Petal Earrings, 2008, 2 1/2″ long
These earrings will also vie for a 2009 Niche award in the Fashion Jewelry category.

I cannot remember a time in my life that I wasn't interested in looking at art, talking about art and the making of art. In 1990 I earned a Phd in art history at the University of Maryland. My first experiences with polymer clay were in 1992, but I consider my real work with the medium to date from 1999.
